Troubleshooting

Before you start

1. Do NOT use powertools when tightening.

2. Do NOT overtighten screws - Revisit screws when they need tightening and tighten till stuck, no more.

3. Do NOT overtighten the rubber strap - Follow the guide for which hole applies to your controller.

4. Opening the lever to tighten the screws are more effective than trying to tighten it with the lever closed, this risks damaging the screw head.

5. There are currently issues with some of the rubber sleeves being too loose and might fail to keep the controller from the metal rod. Please use some padding material between the controller and the metal rod. Follow our updates around this matter on our Discord

STEP 1 - METAL MOUNT
Turn on CC to get written out instructions in the video.

1.1. Starting with back controller mount, leave the front part to later.
1.2. Remove the rubber sleeve and keep for later.
1.3. If needed, tighten the pole screw. This might be needed to do a few times before it settles in.
Do NOT overtighten or you risk damaging the screw head and/or thread.
1.4. If needed, tighten the knob screw. This might be needed to do a few times before it settles in.
Do NOT overtighten or you risk damaging the screw head and/or thread.
1.5. With the lever closed, tighten the lever screw till it stops rotating.
Do NOT overtighten or you risk damaging the screw head and/or thread.
1.6. If extra tightening is needed, open the lever, and tighten the screw half rotation. The screw should run fairly free and easy. Close the lever to lock the mount. If more tightening is needed, repeat this step.

STEP 2 - THE SLEEVE
Turn on CC to get written out instructions in the video.

2.1. Gather your back controller assembly, rubber sleeve and corresponding controller.
2.2. Note the direction of the strap on the sleeve. The strap should always be facing your palm and the nub on opposite side.
2.3. Clip on the rubber sleeve on the metal rod. It should softly click in.
2.4. Place the controller in the sleeve and tighten the sleeve over the controller back. Refer to which hole is applicable for your controllers.
2.5. Feed the remainder of the strap in to the slit.
2.6. Adjust the controller in the sleeve to ensure it's a fit.
2.7. If needed, unlock the lever and adjust the tube to the correct direction. Repeat Step 1 & 2 for the front controller.
NOTE 1 Due to a mass production issue with the rubber, chances are your rubber sleeve is too weak to keep the controller from the metal rod. To be on the safe side, use some sort of padding between the controller and metal rod till we have a fix ready. Join our Discord for updates on this matter:

STEP 3 - THE BUTT
Turn on CC to get written out instructions in the video.

3.1. Remove the front controller assembly.
3.2. Unmount back controller assembly.
3.3. Unscrew the grub screw in the magnet mount till the tube releases.
3.4. Make sure the magnet mount isn't near anything magnetic.
3.5. Unwrap the long carbon fiber tube and mount it into the magnet mount.
3.6. For vanity, line up the grub screw with the bottom of the tube (logo wise).
3.7. Tighten the grub screw till the tube doesn't rotate.
3.8. Remount the back controller assembly. Lock it down with the lever.
3.9. Mount the shoulder piece over the tube.
3.10. With the lever in locked position, tighten the screw till it stops.
Do NOT overtighten or you risk damaging the screw head and/or thread.
3.11. If extra tightening is needed, open the lever and lighten the screw half rotation. Close the lever to lock the mount. If more tightening is needed, repeat this step. Adjust the setup to your liking. Never tighten the lever screws with locked lever, flip the lever up a bit, tighten and clamp down the lever.
NOTE 2 Due to difference in thickness of the lacquer on the carbon fiber tubes, there is a risk of scratching it when mounting the shoulder piece. This should only affect the lacquer layer and should disappear is wiped with a damp cloth. Function is not affected.
If you experience deep scratching, stop what you're doing and contact support@mamutvr.com (or reach out to us on Discord ) for further instructions.

STEP 4 - THE UPGRADE
Turn on CC to get written out instructions in the video.

4.1. Scavenge the magnet and the magnet mount from Apto (1,2 or Wasp).
Be VERY careful with the magnet, it's very strong and aggressive.
4.2. Ready up the 15mm screw, metal pole and the sleeve.
4.3. With the magnet in the mount, push the screw into the hole.
4.4. Align the metal pole into the grooves on the other side.
4.5. While keeping it aligned, screw in the screw till everything feels solid.
Make sure the magnet doesn't stick out from the plastic mount.
4.6. Note the direction of the strap on the sleeve. The strap should always be facing your palm and the nub on opposite side.
4.7. Clip on the rubber sleeve on the metal rod. It should softly click in.
4.8. Place the controller in the sleeve and tighten the sleeve over the controller back. Refer to which hole is applicable for your controllers.
4.9. Feed the remainder of the strap in to the slit.
4.10. Adjust the controller in the sleeve to ensure it's a fit.
4.11. Ready to be used on your Apto (1,2 & Wasp) Repeat for the other controller.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  •  The little hat on the rubber sleeve fell off.

This is a glued knob for distribution purposes, it's not a part of the mold and will at some point drop off. It is not in any way a part of the design.

  • The controller mount rotates on the tube no matter how hard I tighten.

This usually happens when the lever screw gets stuck in the clamps or the metal sleeve. Open the lever and start unscrew the screw, it should unscrew easy, otherwise it's an indication that it's stuck.
Keep unscrewing till you have enough slack to rattle the screw in and out.
This should make it release. Follow the steps from 1.5.

  • I ripped my screw heads, what screws are used in TR?

Long Lever Screw - M4 25mm, will work with any head.
    Knob Screw - M4 10mm, flat head.
Metal Rod Screw - M4 8mm, flat head.
